Architecture of Night (2023)
밤의 건축술
밤의 건축술
Ten years ago, while walking down the street, I came across a space whose interior had been exposed due to construction. I photographed that space, and ten years later, I reconstructed it in a new location—this time allowing the passage of time and the unique context of the new site to transform its spatial identity. Layeredly, Serenely, Bustlingly (2021)
켜켜이, 유유히, 부산스럽게
켜켜이, 유유히, 부산스럽게
The work was created in a long-neglected building in the old downtown of Ulsan by photographing a poster found in a room on the 3rd floor, along with several objects that hint at the passage of time, and scenes outside the room, viewed through windows, flowing at different speeds. Then, these elements were rearranged in the room.
The work was installed so that different perspectives, multiple temporal layers, and the boundaries between inside and outside collide and intersect within a single space.
Almost Fitting (2021)
This was installed on the roof of an abandoned building in the old downtown of Ulsan. Transparent sheets printed with photographs of the scenery around the rooftop were cut and pasted onto glass panes installed at an appropriate location on the site.
The transparency of the glass reveals objects placed above and below it at the same time, so fragments of photographs and real objects are combined in the glass in a new way.
Plant’s Plan 02 (2022)
«Plant's Plan» series captures the forms of wild plants growing in the crevices of buildings and concrete structures. Urban wild plants(weeds) quietly break through meticulously designed urban and architectural plans that exist solely for human life, revealing their resilience.
«Plant's Plan 02» was taken from the surrounding landscape of the Art Space building and brought into its interior. It was cropped to fit the dimensions of the building's wall, allowing it to resonate with other architectural elements such as the columns and stair structures.
