_{더 이상 사람들이 드나들지 않는 시장의 한 건물, 그 위 낡고 황폐한 옥상. 이 곳에서 사람이 필요에 의해 만든 인공물들은 필요가 사라짐에 따라 낡고 소진되어간다. 이 자리에서 유일한 올해의 것, 새로운 것은 기이한 모습으로 부식된 시멘트와 비닐자락에 딸려나온 흙을 뚫고 피어난 식물들뿐이다. 사람이 돌보지 않는 동안 부식한 비닐 위에 내려앉은 플라타너스 씨앗은 사람의 키만큼이나 장성했지만, 곧 재개발이 시작되면 이 곳의 무성해진 자연도 어느새 모두 다시 파괴될 것이다. 우리가 지켜보는 시간 너머로 인공이 자연을 덮고 자연이 다시 인공을 덮기를 반복하면서, 결국 끝까지 살아남는 건 무엇이 될까. 온라인으로만 공개되는 장소의 누적된 기억과 환영들은 그곳의 시간과 공간 어디쯤에 자리하고 있을까.}

The work Artificial Nature is a site-specific art project which was installed on the rooftop of a building in the Airport Market in Banghwa-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. The Airport Market has been derelict for a long time. On the rooftop of the building where everything is decaying and rusting, only plants spread their incongruous viabilities and continue their blooming and fading every season. The appearance of the rooftop, where plants and photographic objects (a parody of plants) coexist, is constantly changing. The record of changes accumulates irregularly, until the day the building is demolished for redevelopment of the area, and is shown as an archive through an interlocked online network.
